Diocesan Cycle of Prayer on the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost
This week, on the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost, we ask for your prayers for St. John the Baptist, Aptos, whose patron’s feast day falls on June 24. The congregation traces its roots to 1889, when an Episcopal group first gathered in the area on June 24, the feast day of St. John the Baptist himself. The parish worshiped for over a century in a small Carpenter Gothic chapel on Depot Hill in Capitola before moving, on June 21, 2009, to its current campus in the Seacliff neighborhood of Aptos. The new campus was designed with sustainability in mind, including permeable paving to allow water to return to the ground rather than the storm drain.
