Diocesan Cycle of Prayer on Palm Sunday
This week, on Palm Sunday, we ask your prayers for St. Timothy’s, Mountain View. This active parish, founded in 1952, takes pride in putting joy into action in Silicon Valley. It is a vibrant, intergenerational congregation with an exceptional music ministry.
We also ask you to remember the ministry of Peter and Annie Cassey. Peter Cassey was one of the founding members of Trinity Cathedral in San Jose and was the first person of color ordained in the Episcopal Church west of the Mississippi. Peter and Annie founded St. Philip’s Mission for Colored People and St. Philip’s Academy. In addition to African American children, the academy served children of Mexican and Chinese origin, who likewise were not permitted to attend public schools. Annie managed the academy and was its chief instructor.
